CVC defines the Vigilance angle as follows (Clause 1.1.1, Vigilance Manual 2021):
- Demanding or accepting gratification other than legal remuneration for an official act or influence.
- Obtaining valuable things without proper consideration from persons with official dealings.
- Using position as a public servant for pecuniary advantage by corrupt or illegal means.
- Possession of assets disproportionate to known income or cases of misappropriation, forgery, cheating, or similar criminal offences.
